Big Reds, Making a decision regarding the reopening of Bellaire Schools is a difficult one because none of us knows what the future holds. Even though the number of cases in the general population might be higher now as compared to when we began hybrid learning, cases associated with the Bellaire Schools are at a low point, both student and staff cases. We have had no evidence to suggest any spread has occurred within the school setting during the pandemic. Given our firm belief that it is in students' best interest to be in school every day for a variety of reasons, academic as well as social/emotional, for example. The Bellaire Local School district will resume in-person, face-to-face instruction 100% of the time on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Survey Announcement: COVID-19 has led to many changes for parents, their children, and schools. You are invited to participate in a survey research project entitled “Impact of Covid-19 on Students and Families in Appalachia.” The survey is being conducted by Marshall University, and is comprised of multiple choice and short answer questions about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting children and families’ physical, mental, emotional, and fiscal wellbeing, as well as daily school functioning. The survey will take participants approximately 10 minutes to complete. Bellaire Schools Educational Announcement: Bellaire Schools will be operating on a Hybrid Educational Model through Friday, January 15. It is our goal to resume full time, face-to-face instruction, on Tuesday, January 19. This decision will be made based on the number of students and staff under quarantine and in consultation with the Belmont County Health Department. Families are encouraged to communicate with their Building Principals so that we have the most recent information on students’ health status. As a reminder, the current grading period and first semester will end Friday, January 15th. Students should plan accordingly and consult their individual instructors on how and if late work will be accepted. Should parents have additional questions, those should be directed to their children’s individual buildings.
