These services are designed to help students develop skills to succeed in school, and to lead healthy, productive, positive lives. Currently, Student Services provides services in the Barnesville, Bellaire, Bridgeport, Martins Ferry, Shadyside, St. Clairsville and Union Local School Districts. Student Services provides a vast array of prevention and early intervention programs in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Some of these programs include Safe Dates, a universal dating violence prevention program; Girl’s Circle, a small group program that helps at risk females develop a positive self-image, increase school attachment, and develop healthy coping skills; McFinn bullying prevention program that decreases incidences of bullying and increases positive social interaction among elementary aged students; and Too Good For Drugs, an alcohol and other drug prevention program that teaches students goal setting, decision making, emotion management, pro-social interaction as well as alcohol and other drug facts. The programs implemented by Student Services are evidence-based and show significant gains in participating students’ knowledge, skills and attitudes upon program completion. These are only a few of the programs currently implemented by Student Services.
