Bellaire High's Art Department is currently run by Megan Ritchea. This is Megan's third year at Bellaire High School. She is a 2001 graduate of the Columbus College of Art & Design, with a major in fine arts and a minor in art therapy.

Current art classes offered at Bellaire High School include:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Art 1
  • Advanced Art 1-4
  • Clay
  • Photography.

Students enjoy a wide range of hands on creative ways to express themselves.

BHS artwork has been showcased and awarded in many local art shows in the Ohio Valley. Receptions to many shows are free and open for public viewing. Some of the recent shows include: The Stifel Fine Arts Center, OUE's ECO show, Belmont County Art show, West Liberty University Madd Fest, and Bellaire Local Library. BHS has had artwork honored in local newspapers, participated in ODOT District 11's annual paint the plow program, and holds the winning tittle, two years in a row, for the Belmont County Anthology cover design contest! The best artwork from each class is also displayed every month in the High School.

Advanced students have the opportunity to attend art field trips each year. Field trips give students hands on opportunity to learn the matting procedure, gallery set up, media viewing, and the chance to compete for college scholarships.
