District Safety Training Bulletin

Dear Big Reds’ Parents and Community:

The school year has brought with it a renewed commitment by the staff, administrative team and the Board of Education to provide a safe school campus for your children.  To that end, we are looking at ways to enhance campus security.  This includes making physical changes to our campuses as well as training staff and conducting drills in the buildings and on buses.

We had a two-hour delayed start in September to provide professional development to both classified and teaching staff on ALICE by both the Belmont County Sheriff and the Bellaire Village Police Departments.  We also have had additional drills in the high school.

However, the purpose of this communication is to inform the public that the Bellaire Schools will be conducting live ‘intruder’ alert drills later this month after the close of the current grading period as a follow up to the teacher training in September.  You are receiving this notification in order to reduce alarm. Please also be advised we also plan to perform these drills multiple times during the year.

Once again: FROM OCTOBER 19 THROUGH NOVEMBER 9, SHOULD YOU SEE EMERGENCY VEHICLES AT ANY OF OUR BUILDINGS, PLEASE DO NOT BECOME ALARMED. THAT BUILDING IS PROBABLY UNDER GOING ITS FIRST SAFETY DRILL OF THE YEAR.
